My very first Post

Hello World,

I'm Marty and this is my blog! I am very inspired by several crafting and sewing blogs out there, so i thought i would start my own. Currently my talents are sewing and crochet. I have just started both, so I am a beginner for both. I have only completed a few projects, so we will defiantly see progress in my skills as time goes by. I will have my pictures later, but I have a few projects started of which I will explain below:

My current crochet project is from Vicki Howell for Caron Yarn. I chose the Penny arcade jacket and am about three quarters of the way completed. I chose this pattern firstly because i thought it was cute of course, but also because it was free. (hehe! you will come to learn how cheap I am). I am doing this jacket in a different yarn because they did not have Sheepish Yarn at my local store. Instead I am using another Caron yarn called Simply Soft in light country blue. I will post photos of the completed sweater.

For my sewing project I'm making a shirt dress from a Burda Pattern. Instead of shirting I'm using flannel because i love wearing dresses in the winter. I know its crazy but I have the perfect winter dress gear (i.e. fleece stockings and plain long sleeve tees). Sewing the thicker, warmer fabric in the summer is really a struggle because its just so freaking HOT!!! I can only work for short periods at a time before i start sweating my butt off. I'm using a plaid print (photo sample below) instead of a sold, because i think it would make the dress really really cute. The white bib portion i am making just a solid bright blue fleece. I don't want the dress to look too busy. Instead of long sleeves, I am sewing them 3/4 length and no buttoned cuff. I was thinking of rolling the hem and adding a buttoned embellishment. I am about half way completed on this pattern.
